The AUGUST FÖRSTER instruments are completely hand made which is rare compared to other piano manufacturers worldwide. Only the highest quality materials are used. The legs, music stands and lyres for the pedals are custom carved from wood. The posts for the grand pianos are reinforced and different parts are connected with wood dowels. The bass strings are wound by hand and the iron frame is prepared by hand. Each instrument is an individual product of art and has the unique “AUGUST FÖRSTER Sound”.

The warm, mellow sound is characteristic for our AUGUST FÖRSTER instruments. The perfect volume of the sound are the results of profound experience, continuous development and improvement over a period of more than 150 years. Specifically the carefully crafted soundboard is unique for AUGUST FÖRSTER instruments. The strong cast iron frames can withstand the tension of the strings of up to 20 tons, a specialty patented to Mr. AUGUST FÖRSTER already back in 1866 and therefore guarantees utmost stability. Nevertheless, that’s still not good enough for Mr. August Förster, so he constructed and added special back posts for a perfect stability of the tuning, an outstanding characteristic of the AUGUST FÖRSTER instruments.

100 % „Made in Germany“ as certified by the German piano Maker Association (Bundesverband Klavier e.V. – BVK)
The BVK introduced the certificate as shown to increase market transparency. The strict guidelines of the BVK must be fulfilled for all instruments produced under the certified brand names by the respective manufacturers.
After successful certification, AUGUST FÖRSTER has the right to use apply the logo of the BVK “Made in Germany” to the instruments manufactured under the certified brand name, as well as to promote them with the certificate.
